Winter Warmer: Olivia and Carey
Olivia has had Bransby pony, Carey, for nearly four years. We caught up with 12 year old Olivia to hear all about what the pair have been up to including Carey’s new love for jumping!
“Carey and I have been together for 4 years in July 2021. We chose to rehome a pony as opposed to buying as we previously had another Bransby Horses pony, a Shetland pony called Mopsie who we had for 6 years. Instead of buying a school master I wanted another pony from Bransby Horses as they have a story to tell. Also the horses and ponies are saved from conditions that aren’t suitable for them. It’s nice for the horses to know that they are loved and someone is saving them.
One of my favourite winter stories with Carey is when we went sledging in the snow and Carey decided to join us!
We have developed an even stronger bond in 2020 with school being closed due to the national lockdown. Carey has got a lot more confident with jumping and I was planning to take her out to a few shows when I can. I’m so proud of her as we had only started jumping in April and then she would stop every time at the jump.
She has come so far since we first got her, she was very spooky and green. Now she doesn’t stop now and is a lot more confident in all areas. Carey is very cute if you ask her if she has been a good girl or when she thinks she has done something well she will snicker at you.”
