Say hello to Starburst!

Starburst is a 15 year old, 13hh grey, Welsh mare who is looking for a home as a non-ridden companion.

Starburst is a gentle and shy girl who quickly wins over anyone who spends time with her. She benefits from being in a consistent routine where she knows what is expected of her. Starburst sits at the bottom of the hierarchy and has found herself being bullied by the more dominant horses. Due to this she has been living in a smaller herd, recently taking on the role of ‘aunty’ with some youngsters and taking them all under her wing in a gentle and nurturing manner. Starburst came to us largely unhandled and has come a long way, having blossomed into a truly wonderful girl; however her perfect partner will need to understand that due to her past, she may take some time to adjust to a new home and will need regular handling to maintain this.

Starburst has EMS with historic instances of laminitis so will need appropriate management for this. She also requires 6 monthly dental checks to keep her mouth healthy.

Starburst lives out 24/7 in a small herd with access to a shelter. She will happily stable when needed.

Rugs: Not Needed

Starburst lives in a small herd of 2 or 3 equines. She is a passive lady and sits at the bottom of the hierarchy so can be bullied by more dominant equines and in larger groups.

Forage/Feed: No hard feed given and restricted grazing to appropriately manage her weight. If grazing becomes too sparse, she is supplemented with low-calorie hay & Barley straw. She does receive a supplement of Biotex at present to help with the quality of her feet.

Farrier: Starburst is cold shod in front to offer support due to repeated historic bouts of laminitis.

Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.
