About Us

Founded in 1968 by Mr Peter Hunt, Bransby Horses is one of the UK’s largest equine welfare charities. Dedicated to improving the lives of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.

We’re 52 years young, and still thriving thanks to amazing public support and the wonderful people who have remembered us in their Will. We rely solely on support from the general public to help us continue our mission to improve the lives of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules through our key charity principles: rescue, rehabilitate, rehome and educate.

We now have two sites: Bransby which is home to over 300 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, and our Barlings site which homes over 40 horses and ponies.

We also have over 500 horses and ponies in foster homes. Our Bransby Family Fosterers are an essential part in helping us continue our welfare work, enabling us to take on more equines in need. If you’d be interested in rehoming a horse or pony, we’d love you to complete an application form.

During the current flooding crisis at our Bransby site, we would like to reassure our supporters, all equines and staff are safe. The welfare of the equines at Bransby Horses is paramount and we as a charity endeavour to continue providing the superb level of care we always have.

Flooding At Bransby Horses – Ways You Can Help – Bransby Horses

Over the last few days, we have been overwhelmed by the communities’ support for the devastation the flooding has caused on our land. It’s key to remember that while we agree to support the Environmental Agency to close our drain valves to reduce flooding in Lincoln we receive absolutely no compensation for this.
