Local Councillor Gives Back To Bransby Horses Through The Councillor Initiative Fund

28th September 2021

We recently invited West Lindsey Chairman of the Council, Cllr Steve England, for a tour after selecting Bransby Horses as a community project to award a financial contribution as part of the Councillor Initiative Fund.

Over a four-year cycle, each District Councillor has £4,000 to award to local community projects and activities, allowing Councillors to get involved with local work and provide funding to help make things happen.  Bransby Horses gratefully received a £500 contribution.

Chairman Cllr Steve England said: “Bransby Horses are an organisation that is really close to my heart. The work that this charity does is something that me and my wife Kathryn care about deeply, and on top of the flooding in 2019, and the recent lockdown closures, this organisation has shown a real resilience and commitment to continue to help these beautiful animals.

“The Councillor Initiative Fund allows all councillors an opportunity to give back to local organisations, and I am delighted to be able to select Bransby Horses as one of my selected causes. My recent tour was a pleasure and it was amazing to meet new Sponsorship star, Womble the Welsh pony. My thanks to go to all the team for a wonderful visit and I encourage as many people as possible to visit when they can!”

Executive Director of Engagement and Income Generation at Bransby Horses, Sally Crawford said, “It was lovely to welcome Cllr Steve England to Bransby Horses and show him the work we do to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome mistreated and neglected horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.

Sally Crawford presents Cllr England with his Womble Sponsorship Certificate “As one of the UK’s largest equine welfare organisations, we have nearly 1,000 equines onsite and placed in foster homes throughout the UK, and though we couldn’t visit them all, we did visit the Visitor Centre Yard to meet new Sponsorship Star, Womble the Welsh pony.

“As Cllr England seemed to take a liking to Womble, we presented him with a sponsorship pack so he can keep up-to-date with Womble’s progress at Bransby Horses in between visits.”

You too can sponsor Womble from £3 per month to receive regular updates on his progress and Sponsorship Pack to keep or gift to a friend. Click here for more information.
