Say hello to Huey!

Huey is a 3 year old, 10.3hh, piebald, cob gelding who is looking for a home as an unbacked project!

Once Huey is old enough he could look to start his ridden education to become a lead rein pony, so will need someone competent in starting young horses. Huey is an exceptionally sweet young man who is very loving and generally easy to do. In any situation he feels unsure in, he is always polite and tries his best to trust in what you’re asking. Needles are an area which Huey is still a little unsure on, however with some patience and an understanding vet this is something we feel he will progress with well. Huey really enjoys going for walks around the farm to see new things and explore proving to be very brave. He always comes to see you in the field and will politely follow you until you are free to give him some fuss and attention.
Huey will need someone able to manage sweet-itch as this is something Huey suffers with and so will need appropriate management to keep him comfortable.

Huey currently lives out 24/7 with access to a shelter, and will happily stable when needed.

Rugs: Not Needed

Huey has only ever lived in a small herd of geldings, however he has lived next door to mares without any issues.

No hard feed given and monitored grazing whilst he is still growing to ensure he remains a healthy weight. He is given low-calorie hay when grazing is too sparse.

Farrier: Barefoot and trimmed 6-8 weekly. He is good for the farrier.

Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.

Vet: Huey suffers with sweet-itch which will need appropriate management in the home. He has also historically had a high redworm burden so will need a strict worming programme and daily poo-picking.

Medication: May require switch if his sweet-itch flares up.
