Say hello to Hope!

Hope is a 8 year old, 10.3hh, piebald, cob, mare who is ready to find her home as a non-ridden companion.

Hope is a super special mare who’s perfect match would be someone who can look past her scarring and see the beautiful cheeky character within.

Due to her past experiences, Hope requires someone who will set and keep boundaries in place. She needs someone who is willing to give the time and attention as her scarring requires to ensure she remains comfortable.

Hope is very submissive within the herd and sits at the bottom of the hierarchy. She is very sweet whilst being handled however due to her history she can become frustrated if being asked to complete a task she does not feel she should have to do, Hope is looking for someone understanding and confident.

Hope is a very bright young pony who has responded extremely well to Clicker Training, which her handler has been utilising to help when Hope can become unsure.

Hope is extremely loving and an inquisitive mare, always interested in what you are doing.

Stabling/Shelter: Hope currently lives out 24/7 with access to a field shelter. Hope will happily stable.

Companionship: Hope currently lives with another mare but has happily live in a herd of mares or a mixed herd.

Forage/Feed: Hope is not currently on any hard feed. Hope requires average grazing in order to maintain her current weight. When stabled she is fed on a mixture of Hay and Barley Straw.

Medication: N/A

Farrier: Hope is currently bare foot and is trimmed at 6 weekly intervals. She is generally good for the farrier but may need a little reassurance when using someone new for the first couple of times.

Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.

Vices: N/A.

Vet: Hope has scar tissue over her face, neck shoulders and front legs. These need some TLC to stop them getting dry and sore, or further damaged by the sun. We have been managing this by giving her a UV rug and facemask on days where the sun is out and/or sun cream. We have noticed that Hope is getting some regrowth of hair through the scar tissue which is helping in reducing the maintenance but for now at least it is something which will need to be continued and monitored, particularly on high UV Index days.
