Mare

Say hello to Della!

Della is a 16.1hh, bay, thoroughbred mare who is ready to find a home as a non-ridden horse.

There are so many amazing things to say about this lovely mare, it is hard to know where to start! Della has been a firm favourite from the second she walked onto the farm. She is extremely friendly and loving, always trotting up to you in the field with her ears pricked, excited to spend time with you. Her favourite thing is coming into her stable where she can relax with a hay net while receiving a good old groom. She genuinely loves human interaction and being the centre of attention. Della does suffer with kissing spines, so will let you know if you are grooming her where she is sensitive, we try to avoid grooming this area to ensure she is comfortable. This also means she can be sensitive to rugging, but with a slow and gentle approach, she happily wears a rug to keep her back warm.

Della is good to do in all ways and rarely puts a foot wrong. She is forward going to lead, so would require a home experienced with larger horses. Although she is forward, she is never silly or nasty, she is just eager to get where she is going. She is a very strong willed mare who knows what she wants and doesn’t like to wait around, she is very much the main character in her world!

Della can be dominant in the field, she would suit a companion that is happy to give her space, but will equally happily engage in some mutual grooming and a run around. She does prefer a smaller herd or to be housed with one other equine.

Della currently lives out 24/7 with access to shelter. She enjoying coming into the stable regularly with a friend. This seems to be her safe space where she can relax and recharge.

Rugs: Della can be sensitive to rugging due to her kissing spines, however it is essential to keep her warm in the Winter. With a slow and gentle approach, she happily wears a rug.

Della lives in a mixed sex and age herd. She prefers a small herd where she can be the boss. She enjoys her own space but equally enjoys a mutual groom and playtime.
