Introducing Darcy and Sam
How long have you had Darcy? We have had the joyful pleasure of having adopted Darcy for exactly a year to the week. When she arrived she hadn’t been broken in that long and Georgia, who was only 8 was fairly dinky on her. However, all credit to Darcy, Georgia and the wonderful riding barn staff as Darcy just settled into being a fantastic all-rounder and pony club pony from day one!
What’s your favourite thing about Darcy? She has turned her hoof to so many firsts without batting an eyelid; one day events, pony club camp, xc, games, hunt rides, going to the beach in the waves. At the same time, she is a lovely hack, bombproof in traffic and super safe whilst not a plod.
What are you planning to do with Darcy once lockdown is over? Georgia’s favourite moment on Darcy has to be galloping down the beach and splashing in the waves. We are looking forward to being able to do that again after lockdown as well as progressing her competitions and training.
Darcy’s background was one of being found completely malnourished as a 2/3yr old. To this day we don’t think she’s forgotten this as her nickname is ‘the hoover’ on the yard. She will literally eat anything so clears up after Hoodie her fussy best friend. Hoodie and Darcy are the best of pals and at 20yrs her senior he has shown her the ropes in many ways. Although Darcy has always been an old head on young shoulders.
Darcy is Georgia’s best friend and they love nothing more than a good cuddle.
