Say hello to Turnip!

Turnip is a 15 year old, 8.1hh, dark bay, Shetland, gelding who is ready to find his home as a non-ridden companion.

Turnip is looking for his new home to be somewhere he can be turned out all year round with a field friend to keep him company and make friends with him.

Turnip is looking for someone who has the time and patience to get to know him and his personality, he would like time to settle in but to have a consistent routine.

Turnip is a nervous chap who gains a lot of confidence through his handler and would benefit from small interactions in the first few weeks such as catching, leading and grooming as to not overwhelm him and give him time to settle in to his new environment.

Turnip has a lot of love to give and is looking for a knowledgeable and calm fosterer to help give him confidence and bring him out of his shell as he is a really sweet boy, once he is confident with you he will love standing for you while you give him a scratch! He loves learning new skills and is such a clever boy!

Stabling/Shelter: Turnip currently lives out 24/7 and enjoys living out with access to a field shelter, he becomes unsettled when in a stable either on his own or with a friend so is wanting his new home to be somewhere he can continue to live out all year round.

Companionship: Turnip is quiet in the herd and has a tendency to bond with one other friend. Turnip would like to live in a small quiet herd or with one other, he would prefer a friend of a similar size or a small pony who isn’t too dominant and can take Turnip under his wing to show him the ropes in his new home to settle him in.

Forage/Feed: Turnip is currently living out 24/7 on grazing and is supplemented with hay when grazing becomes too sparse.

Medication: N/A

Farrier: Turnip is barefoot and trimmed every 6-8weeks, he would benefit from a patient and understanding farrier.

Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.

Vices: N/A

Vet: Turnip has pruitus, which is mainly seasonal and is clipped/hogged to help with this. Turnip is a good boy for the vet and is clicker and target trained as he is needle shy.

Medication: N/A
