Say hello to Ameretto!
Ameretto is a 10.3hh, 16 years old, bay Welsh x mare, who is ready to find a home as a non-ridden companion.
Ameretto is looking for a very experienced and very special perfect partner; someone with experience and a love of natural horsemanship/ positive reinforcement training methods due to Amerettos nervous nature.
Ameretto is looking for someone who will support and allow Ameretto to make decisions on interaction when she feels ready, without putting too much pressure on her. Ameretto would benefit from a quiet one to one home environment with other horses around.
Ameretto is exceptionally beautiful and despite being very nervous and shy, she aways does her absolute best to trust humans, and she thrives when one to one with her handler and is seeking this one to one bond with her new fosterer.
Stabling/Shelter: Ameretto views the stable as a place where negative experiences happen and as such she can shut down when in a stable, retreating to the back corner. Ameretto’s handler has been working on making stabling a positive experience for her and she would benefit from this continuing in a home. Ameretto is currently living out 24/7 with access to a shelter and would prefer to live within a smaller group.
Companionship: Ameretto lives happily with both mares and geldings, she will need to always have sight of other equines.
Forage/Feed: Ameretto lives out 24/7 and is strip grazed to appropriately manage her weight and food intake and is currently on no hard feed.
Medication: N/A
Farrier: Ameretto can be nervous of the farrier at times but is good for the farrier when being held by her handler as she can pull back when tied up or if the yard environment is busy as she prefers a quieter environment. Ameretto would benefit from a patient and understanding farrier.
Dentist: Sedated as per standard Bransby Horses procedure.
Vices: N/A
Vet: Ameretto has EMS so will need the correct management for this to keep her healthy and would benefit from a knowledgable fosterer who undertstands EMS and laminitic equines. Interactions with the vet need to be done with pressure and release/ positive reinforcement so she would benefit from a patient and understanding vet as she can be nervous.
