Say hello to Larnaca!
Larnaca is a 7hh, 10 year old, palomino miniature Shetland, who is ready to find a home as a non-ridden companion.
Larnaca is looking for a perfect partner who will strive to form a close bond with her; someone who can appreciate her worries in life and work with her as a team to overcome these. She puts a lot of trust into her handler, so a bond is needed to help her over come her worries.
Larnaca is an independent girl who knows her own mind and likes things more on her terms. She can be worried in situations that involve two people being around her such as the farrier and vet, but she continues to improve all the time with some reassurance and a bond with her handler.
She doesn’t enjoy having a lot of time spent being groomed and pampered, preferring a quick brush over with a hay net to nibble on. She can be a little evasive with her tail being brushed but again, is improving the more she trusts her handler and the right one on one home would suit her perfectly.
Larnaca would benefit from having time to settle into her new home, with a nice routine and getting to know her new handlers in a stress free environment.
Larnaca will need access to restricted grazing with a shelter, friends of a similar height to keep her company. Someone who is going to enjoy walking and other bonding activity’s with her and continuing to build her confidence, who has the patience for her when she does become a little worrisome. Larnaca would benefit from slightly older, knowledgeable children,12+, to settle in her new home.
Stabling/Shelter: Larnaca lives out 24/7 with access to a shelter. She will happily stable with others in sight.
Companionship: Laranca currently lives in a herd of mares. She is dominant within the group and sits at the top of the hierarchy. She would benefit from living with a companion who won’t challenge her for top spot.
Forage/Feed: Larnaca is on a supplement of 10:10 at present and receives this in a small handful of fiber. Other than this she is not on any hard feed and is on restricted grazing to appropriately manage her weight. If grazing becomes too sparse, she is supplemented with low-calorie hay.
Medication: N/A
Farrier: Larnaca is barefoot and trimmed 6-8 weekly. She is worried about the farrier, so she benefits from being trickle fed to make it a nice experience and would benefit from a kind, patient and understanding farrier.
Dentist: Sedated as per standard Bransby Horses procedure.
Vices: Larnaca can be dominant around food.
Vet: Larnaca has a history of laminitis so will need appropriate management out in a home. She also has a history of lameness, though has been signed off by our team of vets as happy and comfortable to live out in a home. Larnaca can be nervous around the vet.
