Say hello to Harris!

Harris is a 10 year old, 12hh, chestnut, Welsh gelding who is ready to find a home as a non-ridden horse.

Harris came to the charity un handled and very nervous. He has progressed leaps and bounds since being with us, but he can still let his worries get the better of him at times. With a patient and understanding handler, Harris blossoms into a sweet, loving boy who is affectionate and rewarding to work with. He may take some time to trust and form a bond with his handler, but once he does, his personality shines through. Once this bond is established, Harris will canter straight to you in the field as soon as he hears your voice, he gets so excited to see his favourite person to spend time getting cuddles and scratches.

Harris is a very special boy who is looking for a very special Perfect Partner. He would benefit from a Perfect Partner who has experience with positive reinforcement training methods, as this works well for him, especially when it comes to vet, farrier and dentist visits. Harris can still be a little unsure when receiving routine treatments/procedures, so he would benefit from patient and understanding professionals to ensure these experiences are as positive as possible.

Regular training sessions, in hand walks (his favourite!) and enrichment is essential to keeping Harris’s brain active. Ensuring his mind stays active, and he does not become bored is essential for his mental wellbeing, as well as setting him up for success when it comes to routine procedures. Consistency is key with Harris, once he knows what is happening, he realises there is nothing to worry about. With this in mind, we believe Harris would thrive in a one-to-one home where he has a lot of time spent with him.

This sweet boy deserves the world, and we know his perfect partner is out there somewhere.
