Say hello to Jim!
Jim is ready to find his home as a non-ridden companion.
Jim is a little cob with a bold character who knows his own mind and loves going for in-hand walks to explore. Within the herd he is dominant but also playful with the other equines so would benefit from living with friends who also enjoy a good game or two. Jim is a ladies man and when housed near mares will become stressed and stop eating so he will need to go to a home with only geldings for company to ensure he remains happy and healthy.
Jim is worried about having his feet handled and he can on occasion produce some small rears if pushed outside of his comfort zone. He benefits from regular handling of his feet and a patient and understanding farrier.
History – Jim arrived at Bransby Horses as a foal at foot with his dam due to their welfare needs not being met. Unfortunately, due to injuries his dam sustained prior to arriving with us, little Jim became an orphan and had to learn quickly to trust the humans who were caring for him. Despite his poor start in life, Jim has flourished into a wonderful young man and would love nothing more than to have a family and a one to one home call his own.

Description – Jim is a 5 year old, 12.2hh, black, cob gelding.
Stabling/Shelter – He lives out 24/7 with access to a shelter and will happily stable with friends in sight.
Companionship – Jim is a dominant boy within the herd but is also very playful with his friends. He can only live around other geldings due to becoming overly attached to mares.
Forage/Feed – No hard feed given and restricted grazing to appropriately manage his weight. If grazing becomes sparse, he is supplemented with low calorie hay/barley straw.
Rugs – Not needed.
Vices – Jim is worried about having his feet handled. He benefits from being kept in a regular routine with this. He has been known to produce some rears if pushed outside of his comfort zone.
Medication – N/A
Feet – Barefoot and trimmed 6 weekly. He is worried about his feet being handled but is much improved with the use of a food distraction/lick.
Dentist – Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.
Vet – Jim has a history of leg mites and as such is not a fan of having his feathers handled or used to aid picking up his feet.
