Say hello to Padus!
Padus is a 9 year old, 11.2hh, black, Dartmoor mare who is ready to find a home as a lead rein pony, with potential to develop into a first ridden pony.
Padus has recently begun her education and is showing great promise. She has had full tack on and has had a small rider on board. She has very recently started her ridden journey and is behaving impeccably. She is still enjoying exploring the world in hand and has proven to be safe and sensible on her own and around traffic. Although she may be slightly timid on the ground, she soon finds her confidence when in work, she seems to really enjoy her job! Once she is established, we believe she has the potential to make an amazing lead rein pony and develop further.
Padus is looking for an experienced, understanding home where she can continue her education. Padus has had quite a tough start to life and can therefore become a little nervous around new people. She is more confident with smaller people and requires patience and understanding to develop trust. Once a bond is built with Padus, she is an extremely loving girl who will always give you her best. She loves a groom and will stand for hours being pampered.
While with us at Bransby Horses, we have unfortunately detected a mild cardiac murmur which has been suggested to be reviewed every 6 months. However, this does not prevent Padus from living life to the fullest! She is a playful mare in the field and gets along well with both mares and geldings.
Stabling/Shelter: Padus currently lives out 24/7 with access to a shelter. She can be stabled with friends in sight
Rugs: Not needed unless clipped
Companionship: Padus currently lives in a mixed herd and gets along well with both mares and geldings.
Forage/Feed: No hard feed given. She is supplemented with low-calorie hay when grazing becomes sparse. She does require a vitamin and mineral supplement to support her as she grows
Medication: N/A
Farrier: Padus is barefoot and is trimmed on a regular 6 week cycle. Due to being a bit nervous on the ground, she would benefit from an understanding farrier
Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.
Vices: Padus is a sensitive girl and can become a little avoidant when being caught by an unfamiliar handler. She is never nasty with this and just walks away from the handler. Once a relationship is built with her, this behaviour subsides.
Vet: Padus was found to have a 1/6 cardiac murmur by our vets which is to be reviewed every 6 months. Padus had extensive dental work when she arrived at Bransby Horses which has rectified her dental issues. She can become a little nervous around the vet, so a patient, understanding vet would be required.
