Say hello to Amazon!
Amazon is a 13hh, 9 year old, strawberry roan, cob mare who is looking for a home as a non-ridden companion.
Amazon is looking for a home where she can be pampered and spoiled with plenty of attention. She can sometimes be strong but is never nasty with this so she would require a confident handler. She is an independent girl who would benefit from a companion that enjoys their own space. Amazon has PSSM so will need a perfect partner who is happy to manage this in order to keep her happy and healthy.
Amazon is a sweet mare with beautiful, eye catching looks who loves attention and fuss from her humans. She is always the first at the gate in the morning and greets you with a wicker which never fails to make us smile. She can become nervous in new situations but is easily reassured with food and scratches, but despite some nerves, Amazon will always try her absolute best for you. She is a lover of food and is very clever; she loves learning new tricks given the opportunity! Amazon is a gentle soul who deserves a laid back life.
She is good to clip with a haynet to keep her occupied and due to her pink skin, she requires a UV fly mask/ nose net on in the summer months which while she can be a little reluctant to accept, she will stand nicely for a sneaky treat – but the number of treats must be monitored as she has a waist line to keep in check!
Amazon currently lives out in a herd 24/7 but can be stabled if needed. Due to her PSSM she would benefit from a home where she can live out 24/7.
Rugs: Not needed
She is very independent and can be left alone in the field or in a stable as long as she can see other equines. She can become dominant in the herd or will happily let someone else take charge. She would benefit from being with equines a similar size to her or bigger as she can become bossy.
Amazon is on restricted grazing due to weight management. She can have low-calorie hay if grazing becomes too sparse. She is currently on 50g All-in-one supplement to support her PSSM.
Farrier: Amazon is barefoot on 6 week cycle. She is a good girl for the farrier
Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.
Vet: Amazon is PSSM1 positive and is managed with restricted grazing and All-in-one supplement. Amazon occasionally suffers with the typical cob trait of sallanders and mallanders on all 4 legs, hinds in particular. She is kept out of muddy fields and her legs are clipped out. During flare ups she receives hibi scrub washes and isaderm cream which clears this up well.
Medication: Amazon is not on any medication, however she does need to remain on a supplement that is high in vitamin E due to her PSSM.
