Stoke Prior Update

1st September 2017

Following the temporary closure of our Stoke Prior site and subsequent detailed review, a decision has now been made to sell Priory Farm. The site would need to be far more effective in meeting the challenges of the equine crisis and Bransby Horses can only be more effective with more facilities and unfortunately the site just is not suitable for further development.

After several years of struggling with these challenges the charity has only been able to carry out limited rescue and rehoming work; which is its primary purpose. The review of the site’s viability has taken many months and has been extremely thorough. Stoke Prior is a special place that meant a lot to the charity and this isn’t a decision that was made in haste or without painstaking deliberation, it has involved many people and many stages of investigative work.

The important part for Bransby Horses as an equine rescue and welfare charity is to stay committed to making the best use of its resources and to help as many equines as possible. Stoke Prior will be sold and the money from the sale will be directly invested back into facilities for the improvement and longevity of the vital work the charity carries out. In the meantime, we will continue to assist equine welfare in Herefordshire and Wales through our collaborative work with other organisations and we will be doing further work to identify other ways to continue to provide support to equines within the area.
