Selene has been with us at Bransby Horses since 2019. Selene was part of a widely reported huge rescue mission involving numerous animal welfare organisations. The RSPCA, Guildford Borough Council, Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards, Bransby Horses, Redwings, The Horse Trust, The Donkey Sanctuary, World Horse Welfare, Dogs Trust and a number of vets assisted on the day. Rescuers discovered horses, dogs and farm animals living in utterly horrendous conditions.
In total more than 200 animals were removed by various charities from the Surrey farm in what was described as some of the most challenging and harrowing conditions that rescue workers had ever witnessed.
Sometimes she can lack a little bit of confidence and needs some reassurance from her handlers. Over time she is becoming more confident though.
She is a sweet natured cob and is affectionately known as ‘Selene the Queen’. Living on our Main Yard, she enjoys her days with her friend, Joules. They have become the best of friends and love hanging out together.
Selene is also a mummy to a beautiful colt called Quinn. When Selene arrived, she was in foal and Quinn came along in April 2019.
Because of her life before Bransby Horses, Selene requires constant reassurance from her handlers, but she often greets them with pricked ears and a little nicker (a noise horses make to greet herd members).
Why not add the Gift of Food to your sponsorship to treat Selene to her favourite breakfast?
Did you know? Selene is a piebald cob. Pied or piebald is a colour pattern of horses distinguished by large black patches on a white coat. The term ‘piebald’ has evolved from two words ‘pie’ for magpie, and ‘bald’ for white patch.
