Blue receives the ‘all clear’!

25th April 2018

This week Blue left the Animal Reception Centre (ARC) following his negative results for infectious diseases and is now settling into life on the Main Yard. While at the ARC he has been castrated but due to age and size, has been a little swollen so needs a calm environment for a few weeks before he is introduced to life in a bigger herd. As he was a stallion for many years, it is unlikely that he would have had the opportunity to socialise with other horses, so the team will ensure this is taken gradually to allow him to adapt.

He was also left with some trauma wounds following a successful surgery to remove several sarcoids that were found on his arrival. Blue has been a true gentleman and a pleasure for staff to work with. Visitors can meet Blue at the Main Yard everyday 10am-4pm where they are sure to fall for him as much as welfare staff already have. The ultimate goal will be to find him a home where can enjoy retirement and be loved.

Thank you to everyone who has donated towards the care of Blue, without your kind help we would not have been able to give him or other horses the second chance they deserve.
