Special Guests Get Behind the Scenes Tour of Bransby Horses

26th September 2023

We were over the moon to be able to welcome over 70 supporters for an exclusive look behind the scenes at our annual VIP day earlier this month.

With around 35 people across both days, our guests enjoyed five individually tailored sessions, showcasing the work we do and of course, the very special equines their donations help.

Greeted by our CEO Jo Snell and Executive Director of Equine Welfare Emma Carter, the day began with an update on our work and how the Cost of Living Crisis could affect the needs of our services.

Guests were then divided into groups for a number of different demonstrations including a session on the daily task of clearing droppings from our pasture and how we are currently fundraising to buy a more efficient field sweeper to help with this enormous yet vital, daily task.

Jo Snell said: “It was an unusually hot day but I think we all coped well in the heat. It’s always a pleasure to be able to show our supporters what we do and to personally thank them for their support. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and we can’t wait to get them back again next year.”

The groups got to meet many of our four-legged residents including a pony called Gerald, who was found collapsed and close to death before he came to Bransby Horses.

Due to the severe neglect poor Gerald was subjected to, he is likely to live the remainder of his life in sanctuary care here with us.

He is a pony with complex medical needs which we are able manage well onsite and are only able to do so thanks to the very kind donations made by our supporters.

Gerald of course has little concept of this but thoroughly enjoyed the attention and meeting his adoring fans.

Our Rescue Support Team also gave a demonstration on how they deal with larger scale rescues – which was very well received – and in the Riding Barn, guests saw how our equines are rehabilitated to prepare them for rehoming.

One guest said: “We had an excellent day and we learnt so much about the work Bransby Horses do.”

Another added: “Once again we had a fabulous time at the VIP day and would like to pass on our thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it a great day for us. Loved seeing what goes on behind the scenes.”

We really enjoyed welcoming our valued supporters back onsite for VIP Day.
