Polytunnels provide shelter from all weather.

Polytunnel Appeal off to a great start thanks to £8,000 grant

24th March 2022

Bransby Horses has been awarded £8,000 from the Petplan Charitable Trust (PCCT) for the Barlings Polytunnel Project.

The project aims to install polytunnel shelters at our sister site, Barlings, a few miles away from Bransby, to provide natural shelter for the horses. The project is part of a wider appeal to obtain 21 polytunnels for our two sites in 2022, costing a total of £35,700.

As the majority of our residents live outside in herds all year round, these shelters are extremely important in providing protection from the weather, particularly as the numbers of animals we take in increases.

Recognising the difficult time Bransby Horses has been through following extensive flooding in November 2019, followed soon after by the impacts of COVID-19, Petplan delivered the exciting news to the charity this month.

Fundraising Manager, Charlie McClelland

Fundraising Manager, Charlie McClelland, said: “This is a fantastic start to the campaign and goes a long way towards helping us provide the tunnels needed at Barlings. We would like to thank Petplan Charitable Trust for their generosity and hope to be able to raise the remaining funds in the coming months.”

PCCT’s mission is to promote the health and welfare of animals in the UK and beyond.

We extend our thanks to PCCT and the generosity of pet owners who opt to give a small donation to the Trust when they renew their pet insurance policy with them.
