Emergency Flood Crisis Campaign

Since November 2019 we’ve been overwhelmed by the community’s support for the devastation the flooding caused on our land. It’s key to remember that whilst we agreed to support the Environmental Agency to close our drain valves to reduce flooding in Lincoln we received absolutely no compensation for this.

As the charity has grown over the last decade, never before had we faced the loss of 40% of our land with 450 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules on our site.

Since that fateful 8th November, we’ve had an amazing amount of public support, and have gained significant media coverage, online, in print, on radio and television, featuring members of our incredible teams on stations and channels including: BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Lincs FM, BBC Look North, and our Chief Executive, Jo Snell, appearing live on BBC Radio 5 Live and on BBC News 24.

For those wishing to continue to help us, during this crisis, which continue long after the floods subsided, we’ve created guidelines to help our very busy teams make the most of your generosity.

Ways you may wish to help:

1. Come and Visit Us

Our main visitor areas are accessible and you can meet many of our equine residents. We have play areas, walkways, a lovely café still serving hot and cold drinks and food and a beautiful gift shop. Buying items from our gift shop and The Feedroom Café will go to supporting our welfare work in these challenging conditions. Families are still visiting each day and having a good time, plus this gives our teams and our animals a much-needed emotional lift at a time that has been extremely difficult. We are located 8 miles from Lincoln, near the village of Saxilby, in Lincolnshire. During the winter, we are open 9am – 4pm, daily, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

2. Donating Money

A gift of any amount will go directly to this appeal and make a huge difference to us at this difficult time:  https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Bransbyhorsesfloodcrisis. We are continuing to raise the much-needed additional £200,000 we require to develop our Barlings site, which has been a safe haven for 42 horses and ponies so far. We’ve raised 20% and the site is starting to take shape, but with more horses and ponies needing to move to the site, the pressure for funds doesn’t let up.

3. Donating Goods

We have an Amazon Wish List. Simply click here to see a full list of what we currently need: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/37USQC6GW5QXQ?ref_=wl_share

4. Rehoming and Fostering an Equine
