Texas is looking for a home as a non-ridden companion.
Texas has a beautiful, larger than life personality and is a mare who will always let you know how she feels in any given situation. Often meeting you in the morning with a wicker, she is an incredibly intelligent young lady who thrives when given the opportunity to learn something new and put her mind to something interesting. She would benefit from a perfect partner who has experience of strong young horses, who can provide plenty of opportunity for mental stimulation and in-hand activities. Due to her young age, she will need someone able to set firm boundaries; she can become impatient, and in situations where she has decided she’s had enough of standing around she will try to use her strength to move herself on to somewhere more interesting. This is never malicious, simply a busy mind getting bored and this is something she has been improving with week on week.

Description: Texas is a 13.3hh, 5 year old, black, trotter X mare.
Stabling/Shelter – Texas currently lives out 24/7 with access to a field shelter. She will happily stable with other equines in sight.
Companionship – Texas lives in a herd of mares of various ages. She sits toward the top of the hierarchy and can be bossy toward those lower down in the herd.
Forage/Feed – No hard feed given and restricted grazing. If grazing becomes too sparse she is supplemented with low-calorie hay.
Ailments – Texas has been diagnosed with OCD in both hind legs. Whilst this means she can never be ridden, she has been given the all clear by our team of vets as able be rehomed as a companion.
Feet – Barefoot and trimmed 6 weekly. She is good for the farrier.
Dentist – Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.
Vet – Texas is good for the vet
Clip – Texas is very worried about being clipped and would need a lot of further training for this to be accomplished without sedation.
