Receptionist/Mail Order Assistant (Voluntary)

This is an exciting, new volunteering opportunity at the charity. You will play an important role within the hub of activities at our Supporter Services department.

Mail order raises vital funds for the charity and each year the orders are increasing in volume. As a volunteer you will play an essential part of the team, supporting our current staff members during the mail order process. This includes picking the goods, packing and distributing mail orders during peak times throughout our campaign.

During our off peak times (throughout January and September) you will be our main meet and greet for visitors/staff in our new, purpose built reception supporting business administration with their role.

Our volunteers are our ambassadors.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday (4-5 days) 9.30am - 4.00pm (2.30pm during off peak)

Main Purpose of the Job:

Main Duties:

To support current staff members in their role in the mail order function by picking, packing and dispatching.  In off peak this role turns into a reception/meet and greet role at our reception centre.

Summary of Main Duties

  • Sorting items in line with the charity’s guidelines
  • Assisting in the process/picking and packing of orders (during campaign)
  • Communicating with visitors/staff/guests/delivery drivers
  • Process post and stamps
  • Deliver an efficient service through high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Liaise and accept/sign for deliveries
  • Using company databases/systems (computerised)
  • ·Some lifting and handling of light goods
